
Singapore highlighted its strong cultural partnership with Australia by presenting the Passages Contemporary Season, featuring world-premiere works by Singaporean and Australian choreographers.
Singapore, 4 November 2025 – Singapore strengthened its cultural cooperation with Australia through the staging of the Singapore Ballet’s Passages Contemporary Season, held earlier this week. The event formed part of celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of Australia–Singapore relations, and underscored the shared commitment to fostering creative exchange and strong people-to-people ties.
The Passages Contemporary Season featured new works by Singaporean and Australian choreographers, including Christina Chan, Natalie Weir, Tim Harbour and Alice Topp. Their premieres — Meeting Point, Terra, The Bistro and Persistence of Memories — showcased diverse contemporary dance expressions and reflected a continued emphasis on innovation in the performing arts.

Australia served as the presenting partner for this year’s programme, reinforcing its long-standing engagement with Singapore’s arts community. The performance brought together audiences, creative partners and institutions in celebration of shared cultural appreciation and artistic excellence.

The collaboration also highlighted the broader network of bilateral ties spanning education, business and the creative sector. Supporting partners included Westpac, Murdoch Singapore, BHP, Santos Ltd, the University of Newcastle Australia, James Cook University (Singapore Campus), Australian International School and Curtin Singapore.
The Singapore Ballet’s Passages Contemporary Season continues to be an important platform for new creations and international collaboration, contributing to Singapore’s cultural vibrancy and strengthening its artistic links with global partners, including Australia.
