Diplomatic and media engagement points to deeper bilateral ties and cooperation opportunities

SINGAPORE, 22 January 2026 – Sun Media’s Editor-in-Chief, Ms Nomita Dhar, held a courtesy call with Ms Shireen Abdul Wahab Mahmood Al Zadjali, Charge d’Affaires and Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Singapore, on Thursday to discuss bilateral relations and media collaboration.

The meeting, held in Singapore, focused on strengthening the long-standing relationship between Singapore and Oman, and explored ways in which Sun Media can support and elevate Oman’s visibility in Singapore’s media landscape. Both Ms Dhar and Ms Al Zadjali reaffirmed the importance of media engagement in enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation between the two nations.

Singapore and the Sultanate of Oman have maintained diplomatic relations since 1985, and these ties have continued to grow through strategic dialogue, high-level visits and economic cooperation. In recent years, both countries have elevated their diplomatic missions to Embassy level, reflecting the depth of their engagement.

Bilateral cooperation extends across trade, investment, logistics, and cultural exchange, with Oman serving as a gateway to the Gulf region and Singapore acting as a hub for Southeast Asia. Events such as the Singapore-Oman Strategic Dialogue and celebratory activities marking 40 years of relations in 2025 have underscored the shared commitment to expanding collaboration in areas including technology, infrastructure, education and tourism.

Both sides expressed optimism that enhanced media engagement could play a role in highlighting opportunities for deeper people-to-people ties and economic partnerships.
