About 3,000 NSmen were activated in a mobilisation exercise at Selarang Camp as Singapore strengthens Whole-of-Nation readiness.
The Singapore Army conducted a Mobilisation Exercise (MOBEX) at Selarang Camp as part of Exercise SG Ready 2026 (ESR 2026). The exercise was visited by Senior Minister of State for Defence, Mr Zaqy Mohamad. The visit took place today at Selarang Camp.
Around 3,000 Operationally Ready National Servicemen (NSmen) from the 9th Singapore Division were activated for the exercise. The MOBEX tested the Singapore Armed Forces’ ability to mobilise forces quickly and smoothly. It also ensured that mobilisation systems, facilities, and processes remain effective.
During the visit, Mr Zaqy observed NSmen going through mission checks, safety briefings, and refresher training. These included weapons handling and combat medical aid. He was also briefed on the unit’s mobilisation plan and viewed updates through the SAF’s digital mobilisation systems.

Mr Zaqy praised the readiness and commitment of the NSmen. He also thanked their families and employers for supporting them when they were called up. He said the exercise showed how Singapore comes together under Total Defence during national mobilisation efforts.
He highlighted the importance of using the diverse skills and work experience that NSmen gain in civilian life. He noted that these skills are valuable as Singapore prepares for evolving and complex security threats.
As part of ESR 2026, a Civil Resource Requisition Exercise (CRX) was also held on 17 January 2026. Civil resource companies were activated to test how quickly civilian assets and resources could be mobilised. The exercise showed strong coordination between the SAF and civilian agencies. It also included participation from SAF Volunteer Corps personnel, reflecting growing community involvement in defence efforts.
