GOVERNMENT URGES RETURN TO DIPLOMACY AND ISSUES TRAVEL ADVISORY FOR SINGAPOREANS
SINGAPORE, 28 February 2026 — The Government of Singapore expressed regret over the failure of negotiations that resulted in strikes by the United States and Israel on Iran, followed by retaliatory strikes by Iran on Bahrain, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
In its statement issued in Singapore, the Government urged all parties to return to negotiations to achieve a peaceful resolution in accordance with international law and the principles of the UN Charter.
Authorities confirmed that there are currently no reports of Singaporean casualties in Israel, Iran or the wider Middle East region. However, in view of the volatile security situation and disruptions to flights, Singaporeans are advised to defer all travel to Israel, Iran and the Middle East region.
Singaporeans residing in or transiting through the region are advised to take all necessary precautions to ensure their personal safety. This includes remaining indoors where possible, proceeding to a safe shelter when alerted, closely monitoring developments and adhering to the advice of local authorities.
Travellers are also encouraged to consider alternative travel arrangements that avoid transits through the region due to possible airspace closures or flight cancellations. The purchase of comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended.
