Australia has appointed ANZ Australia Chairman Paul O’Sullivan as its new Business Champion for Singapore to strengthen economic ties and expand opportunities for Australian businesses in the region.

The Australian High Commission Singapore has announced the appointment of Mr Paul O’Sullivan as Australia’s Business Champion for Singapore.

Mr O’Sullivan currently serves as Chairman of ANZ Australia and has longstanding connections with Singapore through his work with ANZ and previous leadership roles at Singtel.

According to the Australian High Commission, Mr O’Sullivan brings extensive business and leadership experience to the role. He is also Chairman of Western Sydney Airport Corporation and St Vincent’s Health Australia.

The appointment comes as Australia and Singapore continue strengthening cooperation under their Comprehensive and Strategic Partnership and Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040.

In his new role, Mr O’Sullivan will work to deepen the long-standing economic relationship between Australia and Singapore while promoting opportunities for Australian businesses across multiple sectors.

The Australian High Commission said Mr O’Sullivan’s experience and business connections will help showcase Australia’s capabilities in industries including finance, healthcare, infrastructure, and technology.

Mr O’Sullivan is expected to visit Singapore this week for his inaugural trip as Business Champion. The visit will focus on strengthening business partnerships and highlighting opportunities for Australian companies looking to expand into Singapore and the wider Southeast Asian region.
