
First Official Visit by Uzbekistan Foreign Minister to Singapore Strengthens Bilateral Political and Economic Engagement
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov undertook an Official Visit to Singapore from 21 to 22 June 2026. During the visit, he called on Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong and held meetings with Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, as well as Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu. The visit reaffirmed bilateral relations and underscored shared interest in expanding cooperation.

The Official Visit was conducted in Singapore at the invitation of Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan. It marked the first Official Visit to Singapore by an Uzbekistan Foreign Minister and formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral engagement between both countries.

Minister Saidov’s programme included high-level meetings and a working lunch with Singaporean counterparts, during which both sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations and discussed areas for future collaboration.

During the courtesy call on Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, both sides reaffirmed the warm and friendly relations between Singapore and Uzbekistan. Prime Minister Wong welcomed Uzbekistan’s interest in expanding cooperation in trade and investment, as well as deepening engagement with ASEAN. Both sides also exchanged views on regional and international developments.
Minister Saidov conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and highlighted Uzbekistan’s appreciation for Singapore’s development experience and governance model.

In discussions with Minister Grace Fu, both sides reaffirmed growing economic ties and expressed support for enhanced cooperation in trade, investment, and business linkages. The two sides also exchanged views on global economic developments and opportunities for collaboration in sustainable development.
During the working lunch with Minister Vivian Balakrishnan, both sides took stock of the positive momentum in bilateral relations and identified new areas of cooperation, including food security and education. Minister Balakrishnan welcomed Uzbekistan’s interest in strengthening ties with Southeast Asia and reiterated Singapore’s interest in deepening engagement with Central Asia.
Both sides also discussed opportunities for knowledge exchange in sustainability, water management, digital transformation, and public administration, reflecting shared priorities in governance and capacity building.
