
ASEAN Member States reviewed audit, risk management, and governance matters to strengthen accountability and transparency within the ASEAN Secretariat
The 51st Meeting of the ASEAN Audit Committee (AAC) was convened at the ASEAN Secretariat Headquarters in Jakarta on 24 June 2026. Held under the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship, the meeting focused on matters related to internal and external audit, risk management, and governance within the ASEAN Secretariat.

The meeting was chaired by Ms. Ruth Joy L. Guinid-Lunag and brought together representatives from ASEAN Member States and the ASEAN Secretariat. The gathering provided an opportunity for participants to review ongoing audit-related matters and discuss approaches to strengthening institutional governance and oversight mechanisms.
During the meeting, delegates exchanged views, experiences, and best practices concerning internal controls, risk management frameworks, and audit processes. Discussions also addressed measures aimed at enhancing accountability, transparency, and good governance across the ASEAN Secretariat’s operations.

Participants reaffirmed the importance of effective audit and governance systems in supporting the ASEAN Secretariat’s institutional objectives and ensuring the efficient management of resources. The meeting highlighted the role of collaborative engagement among ASEAN Member States in promoting continuous improvement in governance and oversight practices.
The 51st AAC Meeting concluded with a shared commitment to advancing sound governance principles and strengthening institutional accountability within the ASEAN Secretariat. ASEAN Member States are expected to continue working closely through the Committee to support effective risk management, transparency, and operational excellence across the ASEAN Community.
