The Philippine Embassy in Singapore received more than 50 Filipiniana books donated by First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, strengthening the Sentro Rizal Library’s cultural and educational collection.
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore has received a donation of more than 50 Filipiniana publications from First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, further enriching the collection of the Sentro Rizal Library. The donation followed the First Lady’s inauguration of the library during her visit to Singapore on 16 July 2026 and supports the Embassy’s efforts to promote Philippine culture, history, and literature.
The donation forms part of the Embassy’s ongoing initiatives to strengthen cultural and educational engagement through the Sentro Rizal Library, which serves as its cultural and educational hub in Singapore. The collection includes books on Philippine history, culture, and children’s literature, expanding the range of resources available to students, researchers, overseas Filipinos, and members of the public.
The newly donated publications complement the library’s existing Filipiniana collection, which features works on José Rizal, including facsimile editions of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, as well as titles covering Philippine history, visual arts, culture, heritage, tourism, culinary traditions, politics, economics, biographies of notable Filipinos, Singapore-related resources, and other publications showcasing the country’s diverse heritage.
According to the Embassy, the collection includes works by leading Filipino scholars, historians, artists, cultural practitioners, and industry experts, providing readers with authoritative perspectives across a broad range of disciplines. The expanded collection is intended to support learning, cultural appreciation, and greater understanding of the Philippines.
Since its inauguration, the Sentro Rizal Library has supported the Embassy’s programmes promoting the Filipino language, literature, history, and the arts. It has also welcomed students and visitors through cultural and educational initiatives, including the “Tuloy Po Kayo” educational tours.
The Philippine Embassy expressed its appreciation to First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos for the donation and noted that the expanded collection would benefit present and future users of the Sentro Rizal Library. Members of the public may visit the library by scheduling an appointment through the Embassy’s online booking system.
