Congratulatory Message from H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippines to the Republic of Singapore, on the Occasion of Singapore’s 61st National Day

“On behalf of the Philippine Embassy and the Filipino Community in Singapore, I extend our warmest greetings and congratulations to the Government and people of Singapore on the occasion of their 61st National Day today, the ninth of August (09 August) 2026.

Singapore’s remarkable journey of progress and transformation over the past six decades, both at home and on the global stage, continues to inspire. Its enduring commitment to resilience, innovation, and excellence has made Singapore a model of development for many nations, including the Philippines.

The Philippines and Singapore have enjoyed 57 years of strong diplomatic relations founded on mutual trust, respect, and cooperation. Our enduring partnership continues to flourish across bilateral, regional, and multilateral spheres, benefiting both our peoples. Indeed, the vibrant presence of more than 220,000 Filipinos living and working in Singapore stands as a testament to the deep people-to-people ties that enrich our relationship and strengthen the bonds of friendship between our nations.

This year 2026, marks a particularly significant milestone in Philippines–Singapore relations as the Philippines chairs ASEAN. We deeply value Singapore as one of our most trusted partners in advancing our shared vision of a peaceful, stable, secure, resilient, and prosperous ASEAN. We greatly appreciate Singapore’s steadfast support and constructive input within ASEAN and look forward to working closely together for the remainder of the year.

As we prepare for the significant turnover of the ASEAN Chairmanship to Singapore, we are confident that with Singapore’s leadership at the helm, ASEAN 2027 will build on our collective achievements and further strengthen ASEAN’s unity, centrality, and resilience in addressing the opportunities and challenges facing our region.

May this memorable occasion be filled with joy and our Philippines-Singapore relations continue to rise to greater heights in the years ahead.

Mabuhay! Majulah Singapura!
