Singapore and Bangladesh reaffirm their longstanding partnership as both sides explore opportunities to expand trade, strengthen energy cooperation and advance negotiations for a bilateral Free Trade Agreement.
Singapore welcomed Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms. Shama Obaed Islam on her first official visit to Singapore, marking an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding partnership and close people-to-people ties between the two countries.
During the visit, Singapore and Bangladesh discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation across key areas, with particular emphasis on expanding trade and strengthening the energy partnership. Both sides underscored the importance of continued engagement in advancing mutually beneficial economic and strategic interests.
Progress on negotiations for a bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was also highlighted. Once concluded, the agreement is expected to create greater opportunities for businesses in Singapore and Bangladesh, while further facilitating trade and strengthening economic links between the two countries.
The visit also reflects the warm and growing relations between Singapore and Bangladesh, supported by longstanding connections between their peoples. Continued high-level exchanges are expected to contribute to closer cooperation across a range of sectors.
