Singapore welcomed Bangladesh State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms. Shama Obaed Islam on her first official visit to Singapore, marking an opportunity to further strengthen the longstanding partnership and close people-to-people ties between the two countries.

During the visit, Singapore and Bangladesh discussed ways to deepen bilateral cooperation across key areas, with particular emphasis on expanding trade and strengthening the energy partnership. Both sides underscored the importance of continued engagement in advancing mutually beneficial economic and strategic interests.

Progress on negotiations for a bilateral Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was also highlighted.
