Thailand joined ASEAN Member States and regional partners in Singapore to commemorate the 59th anniversary of ASEAN and reaffirm the importance of unity, solidarity and cooperation across the region.
On 18 August 2026, H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, attended a dinner commemorating the 59th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN at the Embassy of the Philippines in Singapore. The dinner was hosted by H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig, Ambassador of the Philippines to Singapore, with Mr. Albert Chua, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, attending as Guest of Honour.
Held in conjunction with the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026, the gathering brought together representatives of ASEAN Member States in Singapore, as well as representatives from ASEAN Dialogue Partners and Sectoral Dialogue Partners. The occasion provided an opportunity for participants to strengthen regional connections and exchange views on shared priorities and challenges.
The dinner also highlighted ASEAN’s longstanding commitment to unity and solidarity. In their remarks, the Philippine Ambassador and Singapore’s Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong sense of ASEAN identity and fostering close cooperation between ASEAN and its partners.
Against a backdrop of evolving regional and global challenges, the gathering underscored the value of collective efforts in promoting peace, stability and shared prosperity.
