The 5th ASEAN Junior Fellowship Programme (AJFP) officially concluded with a Closing Ceremony attended by Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for Community and Corporate Affairs (DSG CCA), H.E. Nararya S. Soeprapto. The ceremony marked the completion of the four-week programme, which ran from 27 July to 21 August 2026 at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta.

The 23 participants of the 5th AJFP took part in a series of engagements designed to strengthen their understanding of ASEAN and regional cooperation. As part of the programme, the junior officers had the opportunity to engage with H.E. Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, as well as H.E. Delia Domingo Albert, former Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines.

The participants also interacted with members of the diplomatic community, including the Committee of Permanent Representatives to ASEAN (CPR), Ambassadors of ASEAN Dialogue Partners and representatives of entities associated with ASEAN in Jakarta. These engagements provided participants with practical insights into diplomacy, regional cooperation and the workings of ASEAN’s multilateral environment.

Through the four-week programme, the AJFP equipped ASEAN’s junior officers with essential knowledge and practical skills for working in a multilateral setting. Beyond professional development, the programme sought to nurture a new generation of visionary leaders who can contribute to ASEAN’s continued development and represent the region on the global stage.

The conclusion of the 5th AJFP highlights ASEAN’s continued investment in developing young professionals and future leaders.
