Orchard Road hosted Singapore’s first live race car demonstration in more than a decade.
Orchard Road hosted Singapore’s first live race car demonstration in more than a decade last weekend, as Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team reserve driver Frederik Vesti took to the city’s streets during adidas Orchard Ignition. The event attracted more than 200,000 fans as part of Grand Prix™ Season Singapore (GPSS), ahead of the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix from 2 to 11 October 2026.
Vesti drove a Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 car along Orchard Road, giving spectators the opportunity to see a live demonstration in one of Singapore’s best-known retail and entertainment districts. The event featured the sound of the race car, crowds of spectators and a Hot Laps segment as part of the programme.
The demonstration also featured an appearance by K-pop girl group BABYMONSTER, adding a music component to the motorsport-focused event. The participation of the group complemented the activities presented during adidas Orchard Ignition, which combined motorsport and entertainment for visitors.
Organised as part of GPSS, adidas Orchard Ignition brought Formula 1-related activities to Orchard Road ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix. The event provided fans with an opportunity to experience motorsport activities outside the Marina Bay Street Circuit and engage with the wider GPSS programme.
The live race car demonstration was the first of its kind on Orchard Road in more than 10 years. With Vesti at the wheel, the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team brought a Formula 1 car directly into the city centre, while the Hot Laps activity provided an additional motorsport attraction for spectators.
More than 200,000 fans attended the Orchard Road event, reflecting the scale of public participation in the GPSS activities. The programme also highlighted the connection between motorsport, music and lifestyle events during the period leading up to the Singapore Grand Prix.
Grand Prix™ Season Singapore will continue from 2 to 11 October 2026, with further activities taking place in Singapore ahead of and during the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix.
