Cabinet discussed regional security, international engagement and cooperation agreements during its Jeddah session.
His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the Saudi Cabinet session in Jeddah on September 15, 2026. The Cabinet reviewed regional and international developments, including security developments in the region, Saudi Arabia’s participation in international forums, and ongoing efforts to support peace and security through dialogue and cooperation.
During the session, the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on a telephone call he received from Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He also briefed ministers on the outcomes of his meeting with Commander of the US Central Command Admiral Brad Cooper, during which the latest developments in the region were discussed.
The Cabinet condemned continued attacks by the Houthi militia against civilians and civilian assets in Saudi Arabia. It affirmed that the security of the Kingdom and the safety of its territory and assets remained a firm principle, alongside its right to defend itself and protect its sovereignty, citizens, residents and vital interests in accordance with the UN Charter and international law.
Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary said the Cabinet reviewed regional and international developments and Saudi Arabia’s efforts to consolidate peace and security through dialogue and cooperation with the international community in addressing shared global challenges.
The Cabinet also reviewed the outcomes of Saudi Arabia’s participation as an invited state at the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. The discussion covered the Kingdom’s engagement with countries worldwide in areas of mutual cooperation, as well as development, stability and prosperity.
In addition, the Cabinet highlighted Saudi Arabia’s statement at the 70th Regular Session of the International Atomic Energy Agency General Conference. The statement addressed the Kingdom’s role as an energy supplier and its efforts to develop a diverse and sustainable national energy mix, including nuclear energy under a regulatory framework.
The Cabinet also welcomed participants in the Fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence, hosted by Saudi Arabia. The forum addressed multilateral dialogue on emerging technologies and the responsible and ethical use of artificial intelligence.
The Cabinet approved several cooperation measures, including agreements concerning investment promotion with Ireland, a headquarters agreement with the Institute of Internal Auditors, mineral resources cooperation with Kazakhstan, cooperation between the King Fahd National Library and Bahrain’s Center for Strategic, International and Energy Studies, and insurance and reinsurance cooperation with Kuwait.
