Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates and lays foundation stones for various projects worth Rs 11,000 Crores aimed at enhancing infrastructure, sports, and medical facilities in Assam
PRIME Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 11,000 crores in Guwahati, Assam, on 4th February 2024. The event marked the initiation of several crucial development endeavors spanning infrastructure, sports, and medical facilities in the region.
The projects encompass a wide array of initiatives, including the establishment of the Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana, the enhancement of road infrastructure amounting to over Rs 3400 crores, and the augmentation of sports and medical facilities.
Among the notable projects, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone for the Maa Kamakhya Divya Lok Pariyojana, aimed at enhancing pilgrim experience and accessibility to the revered Kamakhya temple. Additionally, significant emphasis was placed on the upgradation of roadways, with projects such as the South Asia Subregional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) Corridor Connectivity receiving substantial funding.
Furthermore, initiatives to bolster sports infrastructure, including the construction of an international standard sports stadium in Chandrapur and the upgrade of Nehru Stadium to FIFA standards, were unveiled. In the healthcare sector, attention was directed towards the development of the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital infrastructure, along with the initiation of a medical college in Karimganj.
The Prime Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to holistic development, emphasizing the significance of connectivity, sports, and healthcare in fostering progress and prosperity. He underscored the importance of historical and spiritual sites, affirming the government’s dedication to preserving cultural heritage while fostering modernization and growth.
