
Elite reciters from around the world compete in five categories during the six-day finals held in the holy city.
MAKKAH, Saudi Arabia – The 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Quran continued with its third day of final rounds. Eighteen contestants recited before the judging panel in the Grand Mosque. The competition, which commenced on Saturday, is organised by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance.
Participants from countries including Guinea-Bissau, the United Kingdom, Indonesia, and Algeria performed their recitations. In total, 49 contestants have appeared before the panel so far. The competition’s total prize pool is SAR4 million, with an additional SAR1 million in gifts for all participants. The grand prize for the top winner is SAR500,000.

The competition features 179 participants from 128 countries, marking the highest number of participating nations in the event’s history. The finals are structured into five categories and will continue for six days, with sessions held in the morning and evening.
This prestigious international event highlights the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Quranic programs. It aims to promote values of moderation and tolerance. The competition also strengthens connections among Muslims globally through a shared spiritual experience in a revered location.
