General Ukris Boontanondha, Chief of Defence Forces of Thailand, led a high-level delegation on an official visit to Singapore from 13 to 15 January 2026, marking another milestone in the close defence ties between Thailand and Singapore.

Upon arrival, the delegation was welcomed by Mrs Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Chargé d’Affaires a.i., who later participated in the meeting between General Ukris and Chan Chun Sing, Singapore’s Minister for Defence, held on 15 January 2026.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on regional security developments and discussed avenues to further strengthen bilateral military cooperation. The discussions reflected shared concerns over evolving security challenges and the need for continued dialogue and coordination.

The two countries reaffirmed their strong and longstanding defence relationship, highlighted by successful joint exercises, specialised training programmes, and a range of capacity-building initiatives that have enhanced interoperability between their armed forces.

Both parties also expressed their commitment to supporting joint exercises among ASEAN member states, with the aim of enhancing regional capabilities and reinforcing unity and stability across Southeast Asia.
