
ASEAN Secretary-General engages Cambodian leaders and business community on investment, connectivity and economic integration
The Secretary-General of ASEAN, Kao Kim Hourn, held a series of bilateral meetings with Cambodian government officials and business leaders on the margins of the Cambodia-ASEAN Business Summit 2026 in Phnom Penh. The discussions focused on investment promotion, infrastructure development, regional connectivity, and strengthening ASEAN economic integration.

On the sidelines of the Summit, Dr. Kao met with Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice-Chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia. Their discussion covered investment promotion policies, infrastructure pipeline development, regional connectivity initiatives, and supply chain resilience aimed at supporting sustainable industrial upgrading across the region.
Dr. Kao also held a meeting with Say Sam Al, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction of Cambodia. Both sides exchanged views on priorities in urban planning and sustainable infrastructure development to enhance regional connectivity and support long-term development objectives.
In a separate engagement, the ASEAN Secretary-General met with Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Cambodia. The discussion explored the Summit’s theme, “Transforming ASEAN: Innovation, Integration, and Industrial Evolution,” and highlighted opportunities to strengthen public–private collaboration in advancing ASEAN’s economic integration, regional connectivity, and private-sector engagement.
The meetings reflected ASEAN’s continued commitment to deepening cooperation with member states and private-sector stakeholders to promote sustainable growth, economic integration, and innovation-driven development across the region.
