ASEAN Senior Officials meet in Manila to advance priorities and prepare for 48th ASEAN Summit
The ASEAN Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM) convened in Manila, bringing together senior representatives from ASEAN Member States. The meeting focused on advancing regional priorities and preparations for upcoming ASEAN engagements.
The sessions, comprising both plenary and retreat formats, were held as part of ongoing efforts under the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairship. Discussions centred on key deliverables to advance ASEAN Community-building and strengthen the organisation’s external relations.
Senior Officials’ Meeting leaders from ASEAN Member States, or their representatives, participated alongside the Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASEAN Political-Security Community. The discussions also addressed preparations for the 48th ASEAN Summit scheduled to take place in May 2026.
The meeting served as an important platform to align policy directions, enhance regional coordination, and reinforce ASEAN’s collective response to emerging challenges.
Participants expressed their commitment to advancing ASEAN’s integration agenda and ensuring continued cooperation in the lead-up to the upcoming Summit.
