
Singapore Foreign Minister Dr Vivian Balakrishnan is currently on a working visit to Panama, Guyana, and Suriname from 17 to 21 May 2026 to strengthen diplomatic and economic cooperation.
Dr Vivian Balakrishnan is on a working visit to Panama, Guyana, and Suriname from 17 to 21 May 2026.
The visit marks Dr Balakrishnan’s first official trip to the three countries and is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and expanding cooperation in trade, investment, and supply chain resilience.
In Panama, Dr Balakrishnan is scheduled to meet José Raúl Mulino, Foreign Minister Javier MartÃnez-Acha, as well as senior ministers for commerce, industry, economy, and finance.
The Singapore Foreign Minister will also hold meetings with his counterparts in Guyana and Suriname to discuss economic cooperation and regional partnerships.
During his visit to Suriname, Dr Balakrishnan will attend the 29th Council for Foreign and Community Relations Meeting as a Special Guest. He is also expected to meet Foreign Ministers from the Caribbean Community on the sidelines of the event.
Dr Balakrishnan is accompanied by Zhulkarnain Abdul Rahim, Member of the Singapore Parliament and officials from Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
