Direct flights between Pontianak, the capital of Indonesia’s West Kalimantan province, and Singapore have resumed with Scoot operating the route three times a week.

West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan said the direct service would make international travel more convenient by allowing passengers to fly from Pontianak to Singapore without transiting through other Indonesian cities. He added that the route is expected to improve access for international visitors travelling to destinations across the province, including Singkawang.

According to Norsan, the Pontianak–Singapore route will also expand export access for West Kalimantan’s products. He said the direct connection would enable faster shipments of seafood, agricultural commodities, and other local products to Singapore while encouraging exporters to improve quality to meet international market standards.

Norsan also said the provincial government sees the new route as part of broader efforts to strengthen West Kalimantan’s international connectivity. He added that improved air links could support tourism, trade, and investment by facilitating the movement of people and goods between the province and Singapore.

The resumption of direct commercial flights restores an international air connection between West Kalimantan and Singapore, providing travellers and businesses with a direct link between the two destinations.
