Indian and Singapore navies conduct exchanges during regional deployment.
Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet ships INS Udaygiri, INS Shakti and INS Kavaratti have concluded their port call at Singapore as part of an operational deployment to Southeast Asia.
According to the Press Information Bureau (PIB), Government of India, the ships arrived at Changi Naval Base on 1 July 2026 under the leadership of Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Fleet (FOCEF), Indian Navy. The visit was aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation and operational engagement between the Indian Navy and the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN).

During the visit, the Indian Navy and RSN conducted several professional engagements, including cross-deck visits involving INS Udaygiri and RSS Supreme. The activities enabled personnel from both navies to exchange operational experiences, share professional knowledge and strengthen interoperability.
The High Commission of India in Singapore stated in a social media post that Rear Admiral Alok Ananda, along with the Commanding Officers of the visiting Eastern Fleet ships, paid homage at the Kranji War Memorial during the visit. The ceremony honoured soldiers who made sacrifices in defence of shared values of freedom and peace.

The High Commission also noted that Rear Admiral Alok Ananda visited INS Udaygiri and interacted with the ship’s crew, while receiving briefings on the capabilities of the indigenous Indian Navy ships and the activities of the Eastern Fleet during its deployment.

The port call included additional engagements to promote closer ties between naval personnel and communities. According to the High Commission of India in Singapore, activities included visits by school students to the Eastern Fleet ships, Indian naval personnel visiting the Singapore Navy Museum, and interactions with the Indian and diplomatic communities onboard INS Udaygiri.
The Indian Navy stated that the deployment concluded with engagements aimed at strengthening the enduring India-Singapore maritime partnership and cooperation in the regional maritime domain.
