Following the devastating earthquakes of 24 June 2026, the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Singapore honours the victims, thanks the diplomatic community and humanitarian partners for their unwavering support, and highlights the international solidarity that has strengthened relief and recovery efforts.
Ms Nomita Dhar, Editor-in-Chief of IN Diplomacy and CEO of Sun Media Pte Ltd, visited the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Republic of Singapore to meet with H.E. Jessica Maria López Piña, Ambassador of Venezuela to Singapore, and convey her heartfelt condolences following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June 2026.
The earthquakes caused significant devastation across several regions of the country, affecting communities, damaging infrastructure, and disrupting the lives of thousands of people. Since the disaster, the Venezuelan Government, together with humanitarian organisations and international partners, has been working tirelessly to provide emergency assistance, deliver relief supplies, and support affected families as recovery efforts continue.
To honour the victims and provide an opportunity for friends of Venezuela to express their sympathies, the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Singapore opened a Book of Condolence at its premises. The initiative welcomed representatives of the Singapore Government, members of the diplomatic corps, the Venezuelan community, Singaporean friends, and members of the public to pay their respects and stand in solidarity with those affected.

The Embassy expressed its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who visited and signed the Book of Condolence.
“The Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Republic of Singapore expresses its deepest gratitude to the representatives of the accredited diplomatic corps, to our Venezuelan compatriots and to our Singaporean friends who came to pay tribute to the memory of all the victims of the earthquakes they impacted Venezuela last June 24, 2026, by signing the Book of Condolences.
Each message plastered on their pages constitutes a testimony of solidarity, fraternity and companionship in a moment of immense pain for our people. These gestures reaffirm that, even in adversity, the union between nations transcends distances.

As part of its continued outreach following the disaster, Ambassador Jessica Maria López Piña also met with Ambassador Benjamin William, Secretary-General and Executive Director of the Singapore Red Cross, to personally express the gratitude of the Venezuelan Government and people for the Singapore Red Cross’s fundraising initiative in support of humanitarian efforts for communities affected by the earthquakes.
The Embassy further expressed its appreciation to Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, for extending his condolences following the tragedy. On behalf of the Venezuelan Government and people, the Embassy thanked the Government and people of Singapore for their compassion, solidarity, and generosity during this difficult period, noting that such gestures reinforce the enduring friendship between the two countries.
