The Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore commemorated the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Thailand’s National Mother’s Day with a Buddhist chanting and merit-making ceremony.
The Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore held a Buddhist chanting and merit-making ceremony at Kanchanarama Buddhist Temple on 12 August 2026, marking the auspicious occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Thailand’s National Mother’s Day.
The ceremony brought together members of the Thai Buddhist community in Singapore, as well as Thai and Singaporean Buddhists, who gathered to pay their respects and participate in the religious observances. The occasion reflected the deep reverence held for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and the importance of National Mother’s Day in Thailand.
On the monastic side, the ceremony was presided over by Phra Panyadhamvides, Abbot of Wat Ananda Metyarama, and Ven. Seck Kong Hian, Chief Abbot of Wat Buddhaguna and President of Thai Sangha Samatca (Singapore). They were joined by nine titled monks from Thai temples in Singapore, who participated in the Buddhist chanting and merit-making ceremony.
The religious observance included Buddhist chanting and the offering of Sangkhathan, a traditional merit-making practice in which devotees offer necessary items to monks as an act of generosity and devotion. The ceremony provided an opportunity for members of the community to come together in prayer and reflection on this significant national and royal occasion.
The commemoration in Singapore formed part of the observances surrounding the Birthday Anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and National Mother’s Day in Thailand. It also served to strengthen the bonds among the Thai Buddhist community and foster closer cultural and religious ties between Thailand and Singapore.
