Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi have extended National Day congratulations to their Singaporean counterparts as the Republic celebrates its 61st year of independence. The messages reaffirm the close ties between China and Singapore and their shared journey towards modernisation.
On the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Singapore, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier of the State Council Li Qiang, and Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi extended messages of congratulations to their Singaporean counterparts on Singapore’s National Day.
Reflecting on Singapore’s development, the message noted the country’s remarkable transformation since gaining independence. Over the past 61 years, Singapore has grown from a relatively less-developed nation in its early years into a dynamic, prosperous and beautiful first-world country, forging its own successful path of development.
Having spent more than two years in Singapore, the Chinese representative also shared a growing appreciation and deeper understanding of the country and its many facets. This experience has offered a closer perspective on Singapore’s achievements, development and continued progress as a modern nation.
The message highlighted the potential for China and Singapore to be companions on each other’s paths towards modernisation.
