
Deputy Minister highlighted trade, investment and entrepreneurship opportunities between South Africa and Singapore.
Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of South Africa, Ms Thandi Moraka, delivered the keynote address at the South Africa Focus Week in Singapore (SAFWS) 2026 Business Forum on 23 September 2026 at Hilton Singapore Orchard Hotel. The forum provided an opportunity for government representatives, business leaders, entrepreneurs, investors, innovators and other stakeholders from South Africa and Singapore to discuss trade, investment and potential partnerships.

In her address, Deputy Minister Moraka highlighted the strategic importance of South Africa-Singapore relations and outlined opportunities for cooperation in trade and investment, technology and innovation, advanced manufacturing, renewable energy, financial services, agribusiness, healthcare, logistics, tourism and the digital economy.

Deputy Minister Moraka also highlighted South Africa’s diversified economy and its role as a gateway to the African continent, particularly in relation to the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). She encouraged Singaporean and other Asian businesses to explore opportunities in South Africa and develop partnerships that support sustainable economic growth, job creation, skills development and inclusive prosperity.


The Business Forum also addressed the role of women and young entrepreneurs in innovation, entrepreneurship and economic transformation. Deputy Minister Moraka called for stronger ecosystems to enable emerging businesses to participate meaningfully in international trade and investment.

The forum was held as part of South Africa Focus Week in Singapore 2026, providing a platform for engagement between public- and private-sector stakeholders from both countries. Discussions focused on areas where business and investment linkages could support economic opportunities and partnerships between South Africa and Singapore.


The event highlighted a range of sectors relevant to bilateral economic engagement, including renewable energy, technology, financial services, healthcare, tourism, logistics, agribusiness and advanced manufacturing, while also drawing attention to opportunities associated with the digital economy and AfCFTA.
