‘Savaadheeththa Dhathuru’ is a sailing event organized by the Maldives Integrated Tourism Corporation (MITDC) that invites yachtsmen from all over the world to take part in a voyage across the Maldives seas, stopping at local islands, exploring the heritage, and experiencing famous dive sites, sandbanks, and so on. It is proposed that it become an annual event based on its success.

The route for the rally’s second iteration, which will start in Noonu Atoll and end in Alif Dhaal Atoll, is set to begin on March 1st, 2023. Nine inhabited islands will be visited during the rally, giving participants the chance to see local landmarks and get a taste of island life through cultural experiences, diving, and other activities. There will be six designated anchor points where boat owners can secure their vessels. The organizer will arrange for sea transportation to the remaining islands.

The organizers want to capitalize on the advantages of bolstering these sectors of the nation’s tourism industry by promoting Maldivian culture, heritage, and nautical tourism as well as the nation’s rich history. The MITDC highlights this event as a tribute to As-Sultan al-Gaazee Muhammad Thakurufaanu al-Auzam, also known as Bodu Thakurufaanu, one of the greatest Kings (Sultans) to rule the small island nation.
