Mrs. Chonlatee Chanrachakul and Team Thailand in Singapore join hands for the annual “Loy Kratong 2023” event, fostering a spirit of gratitude and renewal at National University of Singapore (NUS).

On October 29, 2023, Mrs. Chonlatee Chanrachakul, Charge d’Affaires a.i., along with the dedicated members of Team Thailand in Singapore, marked the joyous occasion of “Loy Kratong 2023” at Town Plaza, UTown, National University of Singapore (NUS). Organized by the Thai Language Programme, Centre for Language Studies, NUS, in collaboration with NTU, SUSS, Samakkee Thai Klai Baan Society, and the Thai Dance Society Singapore, the event brought together communities in celebration.

Loy Kratong is a cherished Thai tradition, observed nationwide, where participants float beautifully decorated lotus-shaped baskets, or “kratongs,” on water to express gratitude to the goddess of water, “Phra Mae Khongkha.” It symbolizes the act of releasing troubles and worries into the river, signifying a fresh start and embracing the beauty of letting go. The event served as a poignant reminder of the serenity found in embracing new beginnings and the importance of gratitude.
