WELCOME the new year with a vibrant lineup announced by the National Heritage Board (NHB) in January and February 2024.
Wan Qing Festival of Spring 2024 – Running from 16 January to 25 February at the Sun Yat Sen Nanyang Memorial Hall, the festival will bring an exciting line-up of programmes and activities, from festive drumming workshops to temple tours and heritage trails. There’ll also be storytelling and craft activities for children, perfect for those who are looking for an exciting way to ring in the Lunar New Year with their families.
Museum Roundtable Lunar New Year Hongbao Campaign 2024 – The Museum Roundtable Lunar New Year Hongbao Campaign returns for its 10th iteration this year — this time featuring a cute and versatile Dragon uniquely designed for each of the 43 participating museums, heritage institutions, and galleries.
From 12 January to 9 February 2024, members of the public will be able to visit these participating museums, heritage institutions, and galleries, and collect a set of eight pieces of red packets of that particular museum’s design. Collectors can also look forward to buying a limited-edition Collector’s Box Set featuring all 43 red packet designs.
Pongal Open House 2024 – Head down to the Indian Heritage Centre for an enriching and fun-filled Pongal Open House experience designed for everyone! Happening on 6, 7, 13, and 14 January, the Sun-themed open house will feature the signature Pongal trails, Kranji Farm tours, craft activities, and live performances that visitors can look forward to.
Speak Mandarin Campaign Family Talent Competition 2024 – Registration Opens Date: 3 January – 29 February 2024 More information will be released closer to the date. Jointly organized by the Promote Mandarin Council, CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School (Primary), Committee to Promote Chinese Language Learning (CPCLL), and PCF Sparkletots Preschool, the Speak Mandarin Campaign Family Talent Competition is a nationwide competition that provides immersive opportunities for children to learn Mandarin, and for families to bond and have fun concurrently.
Monumental Hunt in the Civic District – Set off on a fun-filled puzzle hunt in the Civic District! Inspired by escape rooms and treasure hunts, participants go on an immersive outdoor expedition featuring nine National Monuments in the area. Facilitated and guided by a game master, get ready to put on your thinking caps to decode the puzzles and discover fascinating facts about these historic buildings and sites along the way!
Note: This Monumental Hunt will be recurring and will usually take place every 3rd Saturday of the month. Participants are encouraged to check the website regularly for the confirmed dates.
Show and Share – The Story of You – is a bi-monthly artifact-sharing series that invites you to bring a cherished object or photograph related to your Malayalee heritage, aligned with the theme of each session, and share stories behind them. The first session, ‘From Kerala to Singapore – The Story of Roots and Routes’, centered in the exhibition’s first zone, delves into the ancestral origins and migration journey of the Malayalee community across the 19th and 20th centuries. Join us in celebrating the community’s legacy and exploring shared memories together! Note: Show and Share – The Story of You, will be held on the second Saturday of February, April, June, and August 2024.
