His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, visited Singapore, highlighting strong bilateral ties and launching new initiatives.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, successfully concluded his state visit to Singapore on May 7, 2024. During this visit, Sultan Ibrahim engaged with several key Singaporean leaders including President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. The discussions reaffirmed the robust, multifaceted relationship between Malaysia and Singapore.

A significant highlight of Sultan Ibrahim’s visit was the celebration of the upcoming 100th anniversary of the Johor-Singapore Causeway in June 2024. Both countries are preparing for several commemorative activities. As part of these celebrations, Sultan Ibrahim and President Tharman unveiled new stamp designs. These stamps are a collaborative issue by Singapore Post (SingPost) and Pos Malaysia, commemorating the centennial of this historic linkage.

Further enhancing their cooperative spirit, the leaders explored new areas of bilateral cooperation. Sultan Ibrahim also took a tour of Singapore’s Parliament with Speaker Seah Kian Peng, attending a session and gaining insights into the parliamentary proceedings.

Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat hosted His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia at the Woodlands North MRT station which will be linked to the Johor Bahru – Singapore Rapid Transport System (RTS) Link.

Before concluding his visit, Sultan Ibrahim and accompanying dignitaries experienced the Thomson – East Coast train line, traveling to Woodlands North Station. This station is a critical part of the Johor Bahru – Singapore Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link project, symbolizing another key point of connection between the two nations.
