President Kagame and First Lady Jeanette Kagame welcomed members of the diplomatic corps to a luncheon, emphasising responsibility, leadership, and addressing root causes of challenges
President Paul Kagame and First Lady Jeanette Kagame hosted a luncheon for members of the diplomatic corps at the Kigali Convention Centre. The event, held on [Insert Date], served as a platform to discuss critical global and regional issues while fostering stronger diplomatic ties.

In his remarks, President Kagame highlighted the importance of global responsibility and authenticity in leadership. “If you have taken responsibility, global responsibility, to say there are certain values you are going to insist on and push for as hard as you can, that’s fine. But it also gives you the responsibility to really walk the talk,” he stated, urging leaders to act consistently with the principles they advocate.
Reflecting on Africa’s leadership, President Kagame emphasised self-respect and assertiveness. “iI have had interactions with many of our leaders on the continent. And one of the things we talk about is, if we don’t take ourselves and what we do seriously, nobody will. Nobody will take us seriously. And we will always remain just neither here nor there and people doing with us whatever they want. There are things we need to be rejecting and doing so openly and without fear or favor,” he said. He called for African leaders to openly reject external pressures that undermine the continent’s sovereignty and progress.
Addressing the broader challenges facing the world, the President underlined the importance of tackling issues at their roots. “If you want to really address a problem there is no better way of doing that, than bothering to look at and addressing the root cause of that problem. It doesn’t matter how powerful you are, you just stick to the basics, of facts, of evidence of reality,” he noted, advocating for practical and solution-oriented approaches.

The luncheon reinforced Rwanda’s commitment to diplomatic engagement and collaborative leadership, aiming to build mutual understanding and tackle shared challenges effectively.
