Saudi Chargé d’Affaires joins Singaporean leaders in send-off for departing pilgrims.
SINGAPORE, Singaporean pilgrims embarking on the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage were honoured at a farewell ceremony held at Changi Airport, attended by H.E. Salem Alshammary, Chargé d’Affaires of the Saudi Embassy in Singapore. The event was organised under the patronage of the Acting Minister for Muslim Affairs and the Mufti of Singapore.

The ceremony marked a significant moment for both departing pilgrims and the broader Muslim community in Singapore. Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, is a deeply meaningful spiritual journey undertaken by Muslims from around the world. For Singaporean Muslims, it represents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for reflection, devotion, and unity.
Singapore is sending hundreds of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia this year. All participants have undergone health screenings, preparatory courses, and logistical briefings to ensure their readiness. The Saudi authorities, under the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, have launched comprehensive services to receive international pilgrims this season, including enhanced accommodation, digital platforms for visa and logistics management, and on-the-ground medical and security support.
The farewell ceremony served as a moment of reflection and unity, as families, officials, and community members gathered to support the pilgrims embarking on their sacred journey. It also underscored the strong bilateral ties between Singapore and Saudi Arabia, highlighting the collaborative efforts undertaken to ensure a safe and spiritually fulfilling experience. The presence of both Singaporean and Saudi officials reflected a shared commitment to supporting the well-being of pilgrims during this significant religious undertaking.
