New pilot programme by Singapore Tourism Board introduces smart robodog guides at Sentosa and Mandai Wildlife Reserve.
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has launched an innovative pilot programme featuring AI-powered robodog guides to enhance visitor experiences in Singapore. The programme runs from 18 April to 17 May 2026 at Sentosa Sensoryscape and the Mandai Wildlife Reserve.
The initiative is carried out in partnership with Mafengwo, a China-based travel platform known for its smart tourism technology. The robodogs use artificial intelligence to provide multilingual support in English and Mandarin, offering guided tours, storytelling, and real-time assistance to visitors.
At Sentosa Sensoryscape, visitors can explore the area with the robodogs, which share interesting facts and recommend attractions based on personal preferences. Guests can also enjoy daily dance performances by the robodogs and take part in meet-and-greet sessions. The robodogs will also interact with visitors at popular attractions such as Wings of Time and Skyline Luge Singapore, creating a more engaging experience.
At the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, the robodogs are featured at two indoor attractions, Exploria and Curiosity Cove. They perform playful movements, interact with guests, and appear at key locations to create memorable moments. At Curiosity Cove, they also assist in welcoming families and children alongside park characters.
According to STB, this pilot programme is part of its strategy to use technology to improve tourism experiences and attract international visitors. Officials highlighted that the collaboration with Mafengwo allows for more personalised and interactive journeys for travellers.
Leaders from Sentosa Development Corporation and Mandai Wildlife Group expressed excitement about the project, noting that it adds a new level of innovation and engagement for visitors. Mafengwo’s Chief Executive Officer, Chen Gang, also shared that the partnership aims to create more intuitive and inspiring ways for tourists to discover destinations.
The pilot will also provide insights into visitor preferences and technology performance, which may support future developments in tourism and even educational applications.
Visitors can book guided tours through Sentosa’s official platforms, with sessions held daily. Performances and meet-and-greet activities are also scheduled throughout the day, offering multiple opportunities for interaction.
