India’s Defence Secretary, Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, met Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam during a reception held on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026. Separately, Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh also held discussions with Singapore’s Minister for Defence, Mr Chan Chun Sing. The engagements focused on advancing bilateral strategic relations and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The meetings took place as part of the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026, Asia’s leading defence and security forum, which brought together government leaders, defence officials, policymakers, and strategic experts from across the region and beyond. The interactions formed part of Singapore and India’s ongoing diplomatic and defence engagements aimed at strengthening institutional ties and promoting regional cooperation.

During his interaction with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh discussed avenues for further strengthening bilateral strategic ties between Singapore and India. The meeting focused on advancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest and reinforcing the longstanding relationship between the two countries.

Singapore and India maintain longstanding diplomatic, economic, and defence relations, supported by regular high-level exchanges and institutional cooperation. The discussions at the Shangri-La Dialogue 2026 reflected the shared commitment of both countries to maintaining close engagement and strengthening collaboration to support regional stability and mutual development.

Both sides expressed their intention to continue dialogue and cooperation through existing bilateral mechanisms and future engagements, reinforcing the strong partnership between Singapore and India.
