
The official visit underscored the close collaboration between the Philippine Embassy in Singapore and the Department of Migrant Workers in advancing the welfare and rights of overseas Filipino workers. It also highlighted continued engagement with the Filipino community and recognition of the Embassy’s service excellence.
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore welcomed Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac and senior DMW officials during an official visit that reinforced the Philippines’ commitment to protecting the welfare of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Singapore. Secretary Cacdac was accompanied by Undersecretary Jainal Rasul Jr., Undersecretary Felicitas Q. Bay and Assistant Secretary Julyn Ambito-Fermin, who joined Ambassador Medardo G. Macaraig and Embassy officials for the Embassy’s flag-raising ceremony and a bilateral meeting.

During the ceremony, Ambassador Macaraig presented the Embassy with the Special Commendation Award conferred by the Department of Foreign Affairs in recognition of the successful redevelopment of the Philippine Chancery in Singapore. The award acknowledged the Embassy’s commitment to delivering excellent public service and its continued dedication to serving the Filipino community.

Following the ceremony, Ambassador Macaraig and Secretary Cacdac held discussions on the latest developments concerning the welfare of Filipino workers in Singapore. Both sides reaffirmed the strong partnership between the Philippine Embassy and the Department of Migrant Workers, while highlighting the close cooperation between the Philippines and Singapore in safeguarding the rights and well-being of overseas Filipino workers. Secretary Cacdac also expressed his appreciation for Ambassador Macaraig’s leadership and the Embassy’s continued collaboration with the DMW.

As part of his visit, Secretary Cacdac met members of the Filipino community during a “Kumustahan” session held at the Sinagtala Hall of the newly redeveloped Chancery. The gathering provided an opportunity for open dialogue with overseas Filipinos, allowing the Secretary to hear their experiences and discuss programmes aimed at supporting their needs while working abroad.
The Philippine Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with partner agencies, including the Migrant Workers Office-Singapore, OWWA Singapore, the Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG Fund, to strengthen services for Filipinos in Singapore. The visit reflected the Philippine government’s continued efforts to ensure that overseas Filipinos receive comprehensive support, protection and access to essential government services.
