
Indonesia and India deepen strategic partnership through high-level bilateral engagement.
President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Jakarta on 7 July 2026 for a state visit that reaffirms the Indonesia–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and strengthens bilateral cooperation across key sectors.
According to Indonesia’s Presidential Secretariat, President Prabowo received Prime Minister Modi at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base before the two leaders began a series of official engagements. Their discussions are expected to cover trade and investment, defence, maritime cooperation, food security, digital transformation, and regional developments, reflecting the broadening scope of Indonesia–India relations.



During the welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Modi expressed his appreciation for Indonesia’s warm hospitality and praised the cultural performances presented in Jakarta. As reported by DD News, he said the performances reflected the shared civilisational heritage and enduring cultural ties between Indonesia and India.

DD News also reported that members of the Indian diaspora gathered in Jakarta to greet Prime Minister Modi. He thanked the community for preserving India’s cultural heritage overseas and for contributing to stronger people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The state visit builds on recent high-level exchanges between Jakarta and New Delhi and highlights the shared commitment of President Prabowo and Prime Minister Modi to expanding cooperation in economic development, connectivity, security, and cultural exchange. It also underscores the growing importance of Indonesia–India relations in promoting peace, stability, and prosperity across the Indo-Pacific.
