H.E. Veikko Kala reflects on the shared values that unite Estonia and Singapore, highlighting a trusted partnership built on innovation, resilience, digital transformation, and a common vision for a secure and sustainable future in his Singapore National Day message
Strong partnerships are often shaped by shared values rather than geography. Despite being located thousands of kilometres apart, Estonia and Singapore have forged a relationship rooted in innovation, digital excellence, resilience and a common belief that small nations can make a significant global impact. As part of IN Diplomacy’s special feature commemorating Singapore’s 61st National Day, we are honoured to share a message from H.E. Veikko Kala, Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia to Singapore. In his message, he celebrates Singapore’s remarkable achievements while reflecting on the growing partnership between the two nations, highlighting expanding cooperation in digitalisation, cybersecurity, education and innovation, and expressing confidence in an even stronger future together.
Congratulatory message from H.E. Veikko Kala, Ambassador of Estonia to Singapore, on the occasion of Singapore’s 61st National Day
“On the occasion of the 61st National Day, I extend my warmest congratulations to the Government and people of Singapore.
As two small, open and forward-looking nations, Estonia and Singapore understand each other particularly well. We share the conviction that a country’s size need not limit its ambition or global impact, and that innovation, resilience and trusted international partnerships are essential to our success.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1993, our friendship has developed into a close and forward-looking partnership. The opening of Estonia’s Embassy in Singapore by then Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas, constantly growing high-level exchanges and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam’s official visit to Estonia in 2024 demonstrate the strength and momentum of our relationship.
Estonia greatly values Singapore as a trusted partner. We look forward to further deepening our cooperation in digitalisation, cybersecurity, education, and innovation, while working together to support a secure, sustainable and rules-based international order.
Happy National Day, Singapore! Majulah Singapura!”
