Singapore and Viet Nam reaffirmed their enduring partnership, with both countries highlighting continued cooperation in trade, investment, people-to-people ties and regional affairs.
The Embassy of Viet Nam in Singapore hosted a reception on 24 August 2026 to mark the 81st Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam at The Claymore Ballroom. The event brought together Vietnamese and Singaporean officials, diplomats and members of the wider community to commemorate Vietnam’s National Day and highlight the longstanding bilateral partnership between the two countries.

The reception was hosted by H.E. Ambassador Tran Phuoc Anh and Mrs. Tran Thanh Phuong Nghi, with Singapore Minister for Defence Chan Chun Sing as Guest of Honor. H.E. Tran Cam Tu, Standing Member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, also attended the reception during his engagement in Singapore.
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on Vietnam’s development since independence in 1945, as well as the progress made in Vietnam-Singapore relations across economic, political, people-to-people and regional cooperation. The programme also included the distribution of the Vietnam Special Edition publication by IN Diplomacy, featuring coverage of significant milestones in Vietnam-Singapore relations.
In his remarks, H.E. Tran Cam Tu congratulated Vietnam on its 81st National Day and highlighted the country’s progress since independence in 1945, including its growing role in regional and global affairs. “Vietnam has made great strides since achieving independence in 1945,” he said, noting the country’s development in digital transformation, green energy and industrial modernisation.
He also underscored the longstanding bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Singapore, describing it as “a close and enduring friendship, nurtured over generations of leaders.” He highlighted the 30th anniversary of the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) initiative, which has expanded to 27 parks across 16 provinces, attracting more than US$31.5 billion in investments and creating over 350,000 jobs.
Looking ahead, H.E. Tran Cam Tu reaffirmed the two countries’ shared commitment to ASEAN cooperation, regional peace and stability. “As we celebrate Vietnam’s 81st National Day, we also celebrate an enduring partnership that continues to grow from strength to strength,” he said, as Singapore and Vietnam prepare to take on the ASEAN and APEC chairmanships respectively in 2027.
