CHINGAY 2024 lit up the streets of Singapore on the evening of the 23rd of February, celebrating the Year of the Dragon with a dazzling display of culture and artistry. The parade, known for its vibrant floats and lively performances, showcased the city-state’s rich multicultural tapestry.
One of the highlights of the evening was a special performance by young artists from Hangzhou, China, who presented a mesmerizing display themed around Hangzhou’s iconic flower, the osmanthus. Their performance added an extra layer of cultural exchange and beauty to the festivities.
The event, coinciding with the Lantern Festival, was attended by dignitaries including Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, who were presented with the “Auspicious Dragon” emblem of the 2024 “Happy Chinese New Year” celebration. This gesture symbolizes the strong bonds between China and Singapore, emphasizing the commitment to deepen cooperation and friendship in the new year.
