A cross-cultural event marks 60 years of Thailand–Singapore relations through art, photography, and film.

Her Excellency Mrs Ureerat Chareontoh, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, hosted a networking reception titled “A Glimpse of Thailand Through Singapore’s Lenses”, to celebrate six decades of diplomatic relations between the two nations. Held in collaboration with the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the event welcomed over 100 guests from various sectors.

The reception spotlighted artistic and cultural interpretations of Thailand by Singaporean creatives. Guests were treated to a preview of SCCC’s upcoming Kopitiams exhibition, which features striking black-and-white photography by Mr Lester Ledesma. In addition, two documentaries produced by NTU students—”Wheel Tracks,” focusing on Bangkok’s iconic Tuk Tuks, and “Kin,” exploring the evolution of Thai cuisine—were screened during the event.

A key highlight was the celebration of the Thailand–Singapore Commemorative Artwork, launched in September 2024. This collaborative piece, co-created by Thai artist Mr Thaweesak Srithongdee (Lolay) and Singaporean artist Mr Toby Tan (Tobyato), symbolises the enduring friendship and creative synergy between the two countries.

The evening served as a unique platform for cultural diplomacy, offering attendees an immersive experience of Thailand’s rich traditions and modern identity through Singaporean perspectives.
