Rwanda and Singapore explore cooperation in banking, fintech, and public sector capacity building through official engagements.
The High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda to Singapore, Innocent B. Muhizi, held separate meetings with senior representatives from Singapore’s banking sector and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss opportunities for collaboration in finance, fintech, and public sector capacity building.

The engagements formed part of the High Commissioner’s official outreach in Singapore and focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation through institutional partnerships and knowledge exchange. The discussions addressed both private-sector collaboration and government-to-government cooperation frameworks.
In his meeting with Ai Boon Ong-Ang, Director of the Association of Banks in Singapore, the High Commissioner explored potential areas of cooperation within the banking sector, including opportunities linked to financial technology. The discussion covered prospects for knowledge sharing, industry engagement, and collaboration that could support financial sector development and innovation.
Separately, High Commissioner Muhizi met with Jolene Tan, Director-General for Development Partnerships at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Singapore. Their discussions focused on strategies to enhance bilateral cooperation in advancing capacity-building initiatives for public servants, with an emphasis on skills development, institutional strengthening, and sustainable partnership models.
Both meetings reflected a shared interest in leveraging Singapore’s expertise in finance, technology, and public administration to support Rwanda’s development priorities. The discussions also highlighted the importance of structured collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders in advancing mutually beneficial outcomes.
The engagements concluded with an expectation of continued dialogue and follow-up initiatives, as Rwanda and Singapore seek to deepen cooperation in banking, fintech, and capacity-building programmes in the period ahead.
