Mayor of the City of Kigali Samuel Dusengiyumva participated in the 10th World Cities Summit in Singapore, where he joined international leaders in discussions on urban liveability, public health, and sustainable city development. During the visit, he also held a courtesy call with Rwanda’s High Commissioner to Singapore Innocent B. Muhizi to discuss opportunities for bilateral cooperation.

The Mayor took part in a panel discussion titled “Cities for People Leadership: Are Cities Good for Your Health?”, held as part of the World Cities Summit. The session brought together policymakers, urban planners, business leaders, and experts to exchange perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing cities in an increasingly urbanised world.

During the discussion, Mayor Dusengiyumva outlined Kigali’s approach to smart, inclusive, and resilient urban planning. He highlighted the city’s efforts to strengthen urban liveability while advancing sustainability and long-term development objectives.

The panel was moderated by Ms. Dawn Lim, Executive Director of the DesignSingapore Council, and featured contributions from Ms. Vanessa Alexandra Velasco Bernal, Secretary of Habitat for Bogotá; Ms. Kate Thompson, President and Chief Executive Officer of Calgary Municipal Land Corporation; Mr. Robert Hanea, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Therme Group; and Ms. Maria Vassilakou, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Vassilakou Urban Consulting.

High Commissioner Innocent B. Muhizi also received Mayor Dusengiyumva for a courtesy call at the Rwandan mission in Singapore. Their discussions covered a range of issues related to urban development, infrastructure, and international cooperation. They also explored opportunities to strengthen engagement with Singaporean urban and infrastructure developers and identify areas for future collaboration.
