
The courtesy call reaffirmed the strong bilateral ties between Thailand and the Philippines while highlighting the importance of continued ASEAN cooperation amid evolving regional and global challenges.
The Ambassador-designate of the Kingdom of Thailand to Singapore, H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, paid a courtesy call on Philippine Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Medardo G. Macaraig, at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore on 2 July 2026. The meeting underscored the longstanding friendship between Thailand and the Philippines and reaffirmed both countries’ shared commitment to strengthening regional cooperation through ASEAN.
During the meeting, the two ambassadors exchanged views on the positive trajectory of Thailand–Philippines bilateral relations, noting the enduring harmony between their peoples and the strong diplomatic ties that have continued to flourish over the decades. They also discussed the close economic interdependence among ASEAN Member States and emphasised the importance of maintaining regional unity, cooperation and stability in the face of global geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
Ambassador Damrongmanee commended Ambassador Macaraig for his leadership in successfully completing the construction of the new Philippine Embassy in Singapore, recognising the achievement as an important milestone for the Philippine diplomatic mission and its engagement with the Filipino community and international partners in Singapore.
Prior to her appointment as Ambassador-designate to Singapore, Ambassador Damrongmanee served as Deputy Director-General of the Department of Consular Affairs at Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Her distinguished diplomatic career has included overseas postings in Russia, China, Australia and Malaysia. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Chiang Mai University and a Master’s degree in International Relations from Thammasat University.
The Philippines and Thailand established diplomatic relations on 14 June 1949 and have since maintained close cooperation across political, economic and regional platforms. Both countries were among the five founding members of ASEAN, signing the Bangkok Declaration on 8 August 1967, and continue to work closely in advancing ASEAN’s vision of peace, stability and shared prosperity across Southeast Asia.
