Rwanda expands One Stop Centre to provide investors with a seamless experience, streamlining licenses and permits in a true one-stop solution.

In a move to improve service delivery to clients and provide investors with a true one-stop experience, the Government of Rwanda has expanded the One Stop Centre at the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). This expansion aims to streamline the process of obtaining licenses and permits, reducing bureaucratic hurdles and enhancing the ease of doing business in the country.

The One Stop Centre, which was established in 2008, has been instrumental in processing licenses and permits for investors during the business setup phase. With the recent expansion, clients can now follow up on or pick up their licenses and permits directly at the One Stop Centre, eliminating the need to visit multiple institutions.

The expanded One Stop Centre offers an extensive range of services, with over 23 licensing services now available to clients. This comprehensive suite of services covers various sectors and industries, catering to the diverse needs of investors. Whether it’s Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) information and licensing, agriculture export licensing, aviation and drone permits, building permits, capital market licensing, consumer protection and inspection licensing, or customs tax exemption services, the One Stop Centre is equipped to handle it all.

Clare Akamanzi, the CEO of RDB, emphasizes that this expansion represents a significant milestone in Rwanda’s ongoing efforts to improve the ease of doing business. By consolidating licensing and permit services in one location, the One Stop Centre aims to reduce the time and effort investors spend navigating multiple institutions. Akamanzi encourages investors to take full advantage of the streamlined services offered at the centre, ensuring a smooth and efficient experience.

The expanded One Stop Centre introduces a wide array of services to facilitate investment and business operations. These services include assistance with Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreements, agricultural export licensing, aviation and drone permits, building permits, capital market licensing, consumer protection and inspection licensing, customs tax exemption services, domestic taxes services, environmental impact assessments, financial center services, financial services licensing, food and drugs inspection and licensing, forestry permits, immigration business permits, incentives management services, investment registration services, mining licensing, private education facility licensing, private health facility licensing, public utilities licensing, standards services, water use permits, and public notary services.

The RDB One Stop Centre is conveniently located on the ground floor of the RDB Head Office on KN 5 Rd, KG 9 Ave, Gishushu. It operates from Monday to Friday, from 9 am to 5 pm. However, to ensure accessibility and convenience for clients, the One Stop Centre services are also available online through the RDB e-services platform at https://rdb.rw/e-services/.

With the expansion of the One Stop Centre, Rwanda demonstrates its commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment and promoting economic growth. By simplifying the licensing and permit process and providing comprehensive services under one roof, the Government of Rwanda aims to attract more investment, stimulate entrepreneurship, and boost the country’s overall competitiveness on the global stage.
