Former Philippine diplomats revisit the Embassy and reflect on its new permanent premises.
Former Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Minda Calaguian-Cruz visited the newly redeveloped Philippine Embassy Chancery at 20 Nassim Road on 2 November 2026, accompanied by her spouse, former Ambassador Luis T. Cruz, and members of the Filipino community. The visit provided an opportunity for the former Ambassador to revisit the Embassy, reflect on her years of diplomatic service in Singapore and view the new facilities.

Embassy officials welcomed the former Ambassadors and their accompanying guests, who included friends from the Filipino community and longstanding partners of the Philippine Embassy. The visit centred on an introduction to the Chancery’s newly redeveloped premises and a tour of its grounds and facilities.

Chargé d’Affaires Joyleen E. Santos and Consul Joy Anne B. Lai led the Embassy delegation in welcoming the visitors and conducting the tour. During the visit, Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz had the opportunity to view the Embassy’s new home and reflect on her previous assignments in Singapore.

As she toured the premises, Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz expressed her admiration for the new Chancery. She noted that the development reflected the long-held aspirations of generations of Philippine Ambassadors who had hoped to provide a permanent and fitting home for the Philippines and the Filipino people in Singapore.
Ambassador Calaguian-Cruz had served at the Philippine Embassy in Singapore in two diplomatic capacities. Her first assignment was as Minister and Consul General from 2000 to 2004, before she returned to Singapore as the Philippines’ Ambassador from 2008 to 2014.

Her visit offered an opportunity to reconnect with the Embassy and revisit the institution where she had served during two periods of her diplomatic career. The presence of former Ambassador Luis T. Cruz, Filipino community members and longstanding Embassy partners also reflected the personal and professional connections maintained with the Philippine diplomatic mission in Singapore.

The visit concluded with an opportunity for the former Ambassadors and their guests to familiarise themselves with the redeveloped Chancery, which serves as the Philippine Embassy’s premises at 20 Nassim Road.
