Thailand’s Ambassador to Singapore met with the Young Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (YEC) to explore stronger business and investment collaboration in preparation for Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship and ASEAN Summit next year. The discussions focused on business matching, technology partnerships and workforce development to enhance regional competitiveness.
Thailand is stepping up efforts to deepen economic engagement with Singapore as preparations gather pace for Singapore’s ASEAN Chairmanship and its hosting of the ASEAN Summit next year. On 31 July 2026, H.E. Waraphanee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of Thailand to Singapore, welcomed a delegation from the Young Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (YEC), led by Mr. Chathip Tangkulpaisarn, for discussions on expanding business and investment cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting centred on fostering proactive collaboration between the Thai and Singaporean private sectors, with both sides exploring practical initiatives that could strengthen bilateral economic ties. Particular attention was given to leveraging Singapore’s role as ASEAN Chair to create new opportunities for businesses, investors and entrepreneurs across the region.
During the discussions, Ambassador Waraphanee emphasised the importance of advancing concrete business matching initiatives between Thai and Singaporean companies. The proposed collaborations would focus on industries aligned with Singapore’s national priorities, with the aim of attracting greater investment, capital and advanced technologies to Thailand while encouraging innovation and long-term economic growth.
The Ambassador also highlighted the importance of strengthening Thailand’s human capital by equipping workers and entrepreneurs with skills that keep pace with rapid technological advancements. Enhancing workforce capabilities, she noted, would improve Thailand’s competitiveness and enable its businesses to respond more effectively to the evolving demands of the regional labour market.
The meeting reflects the shared commitment of Thailand and Singapore to fostering closer economic partnerships through private sector engagement. As ASEAN continues to advance regional economic integration, initiatives such as business matching, technology collaboration and skills development are expected to play an increasingly important role in supporting sustainable growth and strengthening ASEAN’s economic resilience.
