Thailand and China reaffirmed their longstanding relationship and exchanged views on bilateral cooperation, ASEAN engagement, regional security and developments during a courtesy call in Singapore.
On 18 August 2026, H.E. Waraphannee Damrongmanee, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Singapore, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Cao Zhongming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Singapore, at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Singapore. The meeting provided an opportunity for the two Ambassadors to reaffirm the longstanding ties between Thailand and China and discuss areas of mutual interest.
During the occasion, Ambassador Waraphannee also signed the condolence book following the passing of H.E. Zhu Rongji, former Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. She conveyed her condolences to the Government and people of China, reflecting the spirit of friendship and respect underpinning relations between the two countries.
The two Ambassadors exchanged views on the close and enduring relationship between Thailand and China, which has continued to develop through regular high-level exchanges and strengthened diplomatic engagement. Their discussions highlighted the importance of maintaining close cooperation and further advancing bilateral relations across areas of mutual interest.
The meeting also covered cooperation involving Thailand, China and Singapore, particularly within the ASEAN framework. As longstanding partners in the region, the countries share an interest in promoting constructive dialogue and practical cooperation to support regional stability, connectivity and sustainable development.
Regional security issues and recent developments were also discussed, underscoring the importance of continued communication and coordination amid an evolving regional landscape. The courtesy call reflected the shared commitment of Thailand and China to maintaining strong diplomatic ties while contributing positively to cooperation and stability in Southeast Asia.
