Singapore’s Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, is currently attending the 30th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in San Francisco, California, focusing on global economic resilience and sustainability.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is presently undertaking a working visit to San Francisco, California, United States, from November 13 to 18, 2023. The visit is in response to an invitation from US President Joseph R. Biden Jr. to attend the 30th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM).
The AELM, held under the theme “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All,” currently brings together leaders from the Asia-Pacific region to deliberate on strategies to reinforce international trade, enhance supply chain resilience, address climate change, and promote an inclusive future. Prime Minister Lee is engaging in bilateral discussions with other APEC Leaders on the sidelines of the main event.
Apart from his participation in the APEC proceedings, Prime Minister Lee is holding meetings with notable figures, including Governor of California Gavin Newsom, and key business leaders from prominent US companies such as Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Apple CEO Tim Cook. The agenda also includes the launch of Enterprise Singapore’s San Francisco Overseas Centre and a gathering with the Singaporean community residing in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Accompanying Prime Minister Lee on this visit is Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, along with senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ministry of Trade and Industry. During Prime Minister Lee’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Mr Lawrence Wong assumes the role of Acting Prime Minister.
